Jihan Murad is a senior partner at W&D Law. Jihan has over 18 years of experience in construction law and complex civil litigation. Jihan’s practice includes the representation of architects, engineers, and other design professionals in a wide array of high exposure actions that include catastrophic personal injury, defective design, delay and disruption litigation involving commercial and residential buildings, high-rise condominiums, universities, bridges, highways and other public works improvement projects. Jihan has worked on some of the largest design and construction defect actions in the nation, including claims exceeding $500 million. Jihan has been successful in obtaining summary judgment, as well as securing dismissals for clients facing multi-million-dollar claims.

Additionally, Jihan has extensive experience representing other construction professional trades including grading, framing, window, roofing, sheet metal, waterproofing, stucco, pipeline, flooring, HVAC, electrical, and landscaping.

Jihan’s area of practice also includes veterinary professional liability defense, equine related litigation (trainer/breeder liability, professional negligence, contract disputes, liens, fraud, and administrative actions), and equine related transactions (equine leases, sales, boarding/training agreements, breeding transactions, syndication agreements, employment related issues, and facility use agreements).

Jihan’s equine background includes over 40 years of multi-discipline horse and riding experience.  She has competed in the hunter, jumper and hunt seat equitation divisions for 38 years, and at the “A” circuit level for over 35 years.  Jihan rode with the legendary Hap Hansen from 1989-2001. 

Jihan is also a Certified Equine Appraiser.  She completed the American Society of Equine Appraisers Principles of Valuation, as well as Advanced Principles of Valuation examinations, satisfying AQB (Appraisal Qualification Board) criteria.  The AQB establishes minimum qualification criteria for personal property appraisers.

Jihan has competed in many divisions up to the Grand Prix (1.5M) level.  In addition to numerous championships in many divisions (including professional divisions), she has competed at the prestigious Pennsylvania National Horse Show, the Washington International Horse Show, and the National Horse Show.  Jihan qualified for the national medal finals four years in a row and finished fifth in the competitive USET Medal West Coast Finals (now USEF Talent Search).
